The month of January is chosen to National Glaucoma Awareness Month. To help educate the general public and spread awareness about the disease.


They might be not symptoms of glaucoma at first, but subsequently if not treated, it can take ones eye site away. Leading to severe eye inflammation, partial or total blindness, and increase pressure in the eyes.

A group of people especially the aging population, we can see an epidemic of loss of eye sight if the aware is not raised about the need to go for regular eye examination to preserve vision. The numbers prove the unpleasant reality about leaving glaucoma untreated — the World Health Organization estimates that 4.5 million people worldwide are blind due to glaucoma. Glaucoma has been the main cause of blindness among older population of age bracket 60 and older.

In this article I would briefly share information seniors and their caregiver should know about this dangerous eye condition, and how to protect your vision and maintain good eye health.



What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a number of eye problem that can cause loss of eye sight often with out warning. In most cases it primarily affect the middle-aged and the elderly, glaucoma can affect people of all ages.

Vision loss is caused by high and elevated blood pressure, poor or reduced blood flow to your optic nerve, damage of the optic nerves amongst others.
Like other organs in the body, the eye requires a balance of fluid to maintain its function. Also, too much fluid in the eye can cause a buildup of pressure around the optic nerve. If the pressure isn’t relieved, the optic nerve becomes seriously harmed and becomes impossible to repair.

There is currently no drugs for glaucoma, medication or surgery can only slow or prevent vision loss.



So what should be done?

The best way to protect your sight is to get regular overall eye examination. These exams are most often done by an ophthalmologist. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in eye health and in treating and preventing eye disease. If you are tested to have glaucoma it is advised to begin treatment immediately.

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world, and is a leading cause of blindness for people over 60 years old. But blindness from glaucoma can often be prevented with early treatment.

As an individual, the best you can do for yourself is to stop comparing your life or measuring your success with that of your friends, celebrities, and politicians. This will help your mental health.

It is good to sometimes take a break from societal and work stress, go on a road trip with peeps with good vibes and positive energy, travel to beautiful places filled with nature, take beautiful pictures for memory. Take time to enjoy peace

Clove tea is healthy for your body, it gives vitamins and minerals that can promote your health and immunity. The botanical name for clove is Syzygium aromaticum and cloves are the aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae in Indonesia. They are commonly used as a spice and flavours.

The health benefits of cloves are numerous but in this article, we will be picking up a few to discuss.


1. Clove for fresh breath: Cloves help clear the system and give fresh breath when taken in the morning and at night. Boil 7 to 8 cloves, pour the tea into a glass cup, allow to cool, add a little honey, and stir. Drink morning and night…

2. Clove as flavour: Cloves give a great flavouring taste in zobo and other locally made juice. Boil the zobo in a p0t with cloves, sieve into a bowl and add other flavours for better taste.

3. Clove for dental issues: People use clove to help with dental problems by applying directly to the gums for toothache, pain control during dental work, and other dental-related issues.

4. Cloves for weight loss: Before you start your weight loss journey with cloves, please consult your doctor. Cloves and lemon can aid in weight loss and remove toxins from the body. Carrot Oil Skin Care.

If you do not take good care of your skin it will wrinkle, damage, and crack. There are lots of chemicals people are using in recent times which are harmful to their skin all in the name of looking good. Looking good is good business but ensure you apply natural moisturiser to make your skin look better.

There are many natural ways to maintain your skin and still look good without applying harmful chemicals on your skin.
1. Eating Vegetables and Fruits.
2. Avoid using hot water all the time.
3. Bath regularly.
4. Moisturise with oil.

In this article, I will be sharing how to moisturise the skin with carrot oil and how to make it.

Get a bowl of carrot, wash and clean, cut into tiny pieces and blend with a little rose water. After blending get a clean white cloth and sieve the residual out. Put in an airtight container and add some natural coconut oil and position it in the sun for it to incorporate. When all items are properly incorporated you can begin to apply the carrot oil to your skin. After bathing, allow your skin to be a little bit damp and apply the carrot oil and see how beautiful your skin texture will feel.

Do this morning and night.

Ginger Health Benefits.

Ginger has a lot of health benefits, it can be used for seasoning meat and making other delicacies, it also helps to clear sore throat and gives fresh breath.

How to use ginger for cooking.
Using ginger and a mix of garlic to steam meat gives it a WOW taste.
Blend ginger and garlic, mix with the meat inside the pot, add onion and other seasoning, add little water and boil till it is soft to taste.

How to use ginger for sore throat.
This is one practice I have tried multiple times and it worked. Wash the ginger and clean with a knife, cut in small pieces, chew and swallow. This can be done early in the morning and night before sleeping.

How to use ginger for bad breath.
If you have been embarrassed about your breath, you are not the first person. Get some ginger, wash and peel, blend and put in a jug with warm water, add one teaspoon of honey and drink early in the morning and late at night. You can also chew some ginger 20 mins after brushing. It helps to keep your breath fresh and lungs clean.

Coconut oil has numerous benefits, it is good for cooking, it is good for the skin, it is good for hair growth and so on.

How to make coconut oil without cooking it on the fire Procedure:

Break the coconut, remove from the shell, cut into tiny pieces and blend with the blender

After blending, sieve out the shaft, place the water in a cool dark place for 2 days to ferment, after fermentation put in a microwave for 5minutes, keep monitoring it until the oil is extracted.

Turn oil into a container for use.
